OSS announces a new program to help racers get started

Have you always dreamed of racing a raceboat? OSS wants to make that dream a reality with a new program it is offering. The Offshore Super Series is now offering a program called "Racing with The Pros". This is a hands on experience that is being offered to serious high performance boaters that want to make the transition to racing but may not know how to go about it. This program is not for people that just want to go for a ride in a race boat or have no intention of racing. This program is an introduction to racing to potential racers.
The package includes the following:

You will be assigned to a team for a single race event. Only one person, per race, per team.
Arrive in Biloxi or any calm water race site no later than Thursday of race weekend.
On Friday you will register as an OSS Racer and complete all forms.
On Friday you will go through the dunker training...twice.
On Friday you will attend the drivers meeting at 5pm with your team.
On Saturday during practice you will be able to steer or throttle if you are in a Vee Lite. If you are in an 850 Supercharged boat, you might be sitting in the back seat, depending upon your present skill and prior boat ownership experience.
Depending on how your practice laps go, you might be invited to race in the Saturday afternoon Pro/Am race with your new team mates.
On Sunday you can help your team get ready to race and then cheer them on to a win.

The cost of this experience is worked out between you and your new team owner. Typically it would be about $500 plus your cost of travel.

If this is something of interest to you and you'd like to learn how to make the transition into racing, call OSS to make it happen.

OSS makes changes at Kentucky race course
OSS had to narrow the race course in order to accomodate vessel traffic passage on both sides of the course. This has made the course longer. The new overall legnth of the course is 6.091 miles around.

OSS cancels its participation in Sunny Isles Beach Florida Race
Lack of pledged sponsorship dollars left OSS with a difficult descision, but one that had to be made. At the end of the day OSS had to pull its participation in the race. The event still went on as scheduled, but, since it was not a official OSS race, the race will not count towards the official OSS standings.
